The Revivalists formed in New Orleans in 2007. The 7-piece band began when guitarist Zack Feinberg met frontman David Shaw. While Feinberg was riding his bike along a different route than usual, he encountered Shaw singing on his front porch. The two struck up a conversation, and the rest is history.
Rolling Stone Magazine describes The Revivalists as “a Crescent City-rhythm spin on jam-band jubilee,” and was featured as one of the “10 Bands You Need to Know.” While “jam band” sets certain connotations with music listeners, The Revivalists are an alternative rock band peppered with plenty of soul, or possibly, a soul band with a salting of alternative rock – you decide.
