In 1971, the Syracuse New Times was just three years old – founded in 1969 by publisher Ken Simon (a 21-year-old senior at Syracuse University). Simon called it the “Orange Pennysaver” and later re-named it the “Campus Pennysaver” – but by the summer 1970 it was officially the Syracuse New Times.
