On Nov. 8, 2016, supporters gathered at the Syracuse University Sheraton Hotel for the republican election night party for congressional candidate John Katko, and other republican contenders. Deacon conceded to Katko, scoring just 37.39 percent of the vote compared to Katko’s 58.53 percent.
