Lauren Bristol likes to peer out from the kitchen of Sparkytown, her restaurant on Burnet Avenue, and see how the lunch crowd is doing. On Thursday afternoon, June 19, she stepped out of the kitchen and began chatting with two women who were having lunch.
Only after heading back to the kitchen did she realize that the pair, who mentioned they were in town from Los Angeles, was the singer Melissa Etheridge and her wife, Linda Wallem.
Before leaving the restaurant, Etheridge and Wallem purchased a painting by local artist Ken Nichols, and invited Bristol to her concert at the OnCenter that night.
Days later Bristol still glowed as she talked about the visitors, who she described as “amazing” and “super nice.”
