Rick Springfield was back in court for a fourth day on Thursday Jan. 15 for a personal injury lawsuit. Vicki Calcagno, of Liverpool, claims that the pop singer’s buttocks bopped her head during a 2004 concert at Chevy Court at the State Fair in Syracuse. Justice Anthony Paris declared a mistrial in 2013.
Chris Baker of Syracuse.com (and former contributing writer for the Syracuse New Times) live tweeted during the proceedings. Baker reported that Calcagno “gingerly” entered and exited the courtroom being assisted by a man and woman who held her arms.
CNYCentral.com reported that Springfield’s lawyer, John Pfeifer, questioned Calcagno about a video and photos taken at the concert. The plaintiff claimed that the original photos were lost after a computer crash and admitted that she enlarged a photo of Springfield’s hind region taken at the concert.
Calcagno also reportedly held her head in distress following Pfeifer’s cross-examination.
Closing arguments and jury deliberation begins at 10 a.m. Friday Jan. 16.
Each day, while the trial is ongoing, SyracuseNewTimes.com will share a Rick Springfield video.
In this installment, we share a song from Springfield’s album Hard to Hold (1984), released as a soundtrack to a film with the same title. The album includes three top 40 hits, which includes “Bop’ Til You Drop.”
