Syracuse Commission for Women is soliciting nominations for the Woman of the Year Award through Thursday, March 27, noon. Nominees must have a demonstrated commitment to the community, serve as a role model for other women and enhance the lives of those living in Syracuse. Nominees must live in the city of Syracuse.
This is the fourth year the commission has given the award. Honorees have included Daryl Files, community activist and volunteer; Linda Donalson (Hicks), a probation officer and founder of KJ’s Angel; and Grace Flusche, longtime community volunteer and founder of the Westcott Cultural Fair.
The commission dates to March 1986 and was established by then-Mayor Thomas G. Young. It advises the mayor about women’s issues and interests.
