Thanks for checking in to your weekly weekend CNY events guide. Several of us local residents are eagerly anticipating the arrival of the opening of the Great New York State Fair on Thursday, Aug. 25. The rest of us just want to continue with daily lives and completely avoid the annual spectacle entirely. As it’s said, the fair’s arrival is the “beginning of the end” of summer.

This weekend there are sidewalk and pottery sales, a blues festival and a homegrown jam, staged shows, Frozen under the stars and more.
