Local players embrace Syracuse New Times theater awards
By James MacKillop and Bill DeLapp Change was in the air at this year’s Syracuse New Times Syracuse Area Live Theater (SALT) Awards. A wholly new SALT Academy roster of voters, excluding anyone with New Times affiliation, commenced last year, when the “season” was redefined as September to August instead of January to December. New categories were introduced this year, such as separate competitions for sound and lighting designers in both talk-talk plays and in musicals.
