People are always asking me if Onondaga County has a lot of UFO sightings? I tell them, “YES.” Lately I have begun saying that Onondaga County is one of New York state’s nine UFO hot spots.
The other question I get asked is: Where are the Onondaga County’s UFO hotspots?
To be perfectly honest with you, I really didn’t know until recently. When I was working on a statewide county-by-county UFO sighting tally, I decided to generate another Excel table and sort out Onondaga County’ cities in terms of UFO hot spot sightings. The chart below is the result.
While I expected the city of Syracuse to be a hot spot in terms of sightings, I was a bit surprised to see Liverpool and Baldwinsville to come in second and third, respectively. Beyond the concentration of population here in the city of Syracuse, I have no other explanation as to why it has had so many reported UFO sightings. Frankly, I would’ve thought the outlying towns and villages with less light pollution would have had logged more UFO sightings over time.
Please note from the chart that the data was pulled from the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC) and the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) databases. This chart represents the county’s UFO Sightings spanning the years 1890 through 2014.
