POINTS OF REFERENCE is a music news blog for people with actual lives and/or short attention spans: a weekly selection of topical, pop music talking points fit for bars and break rooms.

- Morrissey announced that he’s staunchly opposed to presidential turkey pardons of any kind. Thanksgiving is murder, obvs.
The Walkmen are going on an “extreme hiatus.”- Garage rock drummer Dick Dodd passed away.
- Billy Joel plans to live out the remainder of his life within the confines of Madison Square Garden.
- “The Punk Singer,” a film detailing the career of Bikini Kill frontwoman Kathleen Hanna, opened in New York.
- RZA released a tribute track to honor actor Paul Walker whom died in a car accident this past weekend.
- Spotify explained its royalty system.
