OPENING IN FILM: A fight to save a plane and the tale of Jesus of Nazareth

Liam Neeson’s Air Marshal has his hands full, Diogo Mordodo’s Jesus follows his heart

Have you ever sat waiting for the plane to take off and play a little mental game of pick-the-Air-Marshal? I must admit, seeing “Bridesmaids” put a whole new spin on that one for me, thank you, Melissa McCarthy. In “Non-Stop,” there was not much guessing involved for this plane full of terrified passengers. And it’s most certainly not a comedy. Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and written by John W. Richardson and Christopher Roach, this is a dramatic adventure-mystery of hijack-by-text message. The trailer shows the Air Marshal played by Liam Neeson receiving a mid-flight little bing on his iPhone that sets a big tale of suspense and fireworks in motion over the ocean. Somebody wants a ridiculously large amount of ransom money or a plane passenger will die every 20 minutes. Julianna Moore plays a fellow plane-rider who looks like she may want to help … or duck under a blanket and pray, like I would be doing after I knew fully well who the Air Marshal was and what was happening on this flight.
