Leon Redbone is an easy, breezy, beautiful cover boy, a jack-of-all-trades musician whose renditions of ragtime and blues are as down-home as apple pie and every bit as sweet. Redbone is one of the few guys in music who can use the word “gizmo” and still sound like an educated gentleman. He’ll be bringing a twangy slice of sentimentality to Central New York during his upcoming performance at Cazenovia College’s Catherine Cummings Theater.

Scott Weiland, lead singer of Stone Temple Pilots, appealed to the philosophically minded among the 20,000 fans in attendance at the 2011 K-Rockathon with a question he raised at the conclusion of the day’s raucous, crowd-surfing festivities.

The key to many great musical acts is balance. Not just how the instruments or singers complement each other but how the backgrounds, experiences, inspiration and personalities of the performers blend and harmonize.

Now married for three years, drummer Collin Brushell and singer Heather Brushell originally met nearly a decade ago at Believers Chapel in Canastota, where Collin’s father, Doug Brushell is pastor. Doug is a longtime Syracuse musician himself and manager of his son’s band.
