Saranac Brewery introduces its newest beer, Wet Hop IPA, brewed from about 180 pounds of locally grown hops picked on Aug. 28 as part of the Saranac Hop Harvest. Traditionally, hops are dried in order to preserve them for brewing beer but in the case of this variety, brewmaster Jim Kuhr got to work less than 48 hours after the harvest. If you like the astringent feeling of hops on your tongue, this dry citrusy beer will have your taste buds tingling.

In the Syracuse area, you can purchase a draught Saranac Wet Hop IPA (sorry, no bottles) at the following locations: J. Ryan’s, 253 E. Water St.; The Ugly Duckling, 309 E. Seneca St., Manlius; The Blue Tusk, 165 Walton St.; Sammy Malone’s, 2 Oswego St., Baldwinsville; and Al’s Wine & Whiskey Lounge, 321 S. Clinton St.
