Locals always claim that the State Fair is the unofficial wrap for a Central New York summer yet the annual Guinness Syracuse Irish Festival at downtown’s Clinton Square is really the last call. Almost always blessed with good weather (the luck of the Irish, no doubt), this year’s bonny affair will feature a batch of musicmakers, starting on Friday, Sept. 9, with The Flyin’ Column (5 p.m.), Goitse (6:10 p.m.), The Elders (7:40 p.m.) and the fast-and-furious fiddling’ of The Glengharry Bhoys (pictured, 9:45 p.m.), and Saturday, Sept. 10, with Emish (12:30 p.m.), two more performances with The Elders (2:30 and 9:30 p.m.), Rathkeltair (4:05 p.m.), Causeway Giants (5:50 p.m.) and the sweet lasses of Searson (7:30 p.m.). Admission is free, with plenty of suds and food available for purchase. For information, call 476-1835.
