WHAT'S SHAKIN' /  Wednesday, June 15,2011 By Molly English-Bowers

The transformation of the corner of Spencer and Liberty streets is nearly complete, as a worker from Graphics Warehouse in Phoenix, N.Y., preps the new sign that will lure chowhounds to the former Little Gem Diner. Once inside, visitors will see such improvements as expanded counter and booth space, the addition of wine and beer to the menu and a positive vibe so long missing under the former ownership of Doc Goode. His excuse for the gradual demise of the Syracuse landmark was lame—the smoking ban did not sink the diner—if it did how to explain the explosion in popularity of Stella’s just about a mile away? The polished silver bullet, simply called The Gem, will be open for business after the Friday, June 17, grand opening celebration, bright and early at 6 a.m.

I have to agree, the smoking ban did not sink him, it was his attitude that did it. Mr. Negitive.
