She-Devils on Wheels

The local ladies of the Assault City Roller Derby (pictured) will whip it big time in two contests this weekend, as the club’s Assault Squad takes on the CNY All-Stars, followed by the club’s Battery Brigade battling the Rome Wreckers, both bouts part of a doubleheader that also doubles as a fundraiser for the Make-A- Wish Foundation of Central New York. The action takes place on Saturday, June 11, 4:30 p.m., at the Baldwinsville Ice Arena, 2725 W. Entry Road, Baldwinsville. Advance admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 5 to 12; at the door expect to pay $12 for adults, $7 for children. Mood music by Born Again Rebels will also be provided. And for more from the area’s skating sisterhood, the Oz Roller Girls likewise host a double bill as they tackle the Hellbilly Heartbreakers, with an intra-league bout pitting the Port City Sirens vs. the Nukes of Hazzard, with proceeds from both contests to benefit the Oswego County Hospice.
