Singer-songwriter Mark Knopfler,
still best known as the frontman for his rock band/musical vehicle Dire
Straits, will perform on Sunday, July 20, 7 p.m., at the Landmark Theatre,
362 S. Salina St. Knopfler was a founding member of the band, which got
its start in the mid-1970s after opening for a Talking Heads tour. The
artist, a solo act since the release of his 1996 album Golden Heart
(Warner Bros), is currently on tour to promote his 2007 album Kill to
Get Crimson (Universal/Mercury), the first departure from his
internship with Warner since 1998’s Wag the Dog (Polygram). Tickets are
